Next up is the final animation in this Bendy SFM saga: Chapter 5. They encouraged me to push myself and make something truly awesome. XBoxGamerK’s “Believer” and the music video for “Bendy Beats” (made by Kittanimates) both really blew me away and helped keep the animation train as well as it did. There were two other animations that really inspired and motivated me to finish this one.

I initially didn’t know how to interpret the game’s original post-credit scene for this chapter, but the idea of showing the animation’s focus characters all down and out felt right. The way I accomplished this was showing them sneaking into the arena and getting into their places to deliver the finishing blow to Alice when she fell from her chandelier (a stylistic choice I really loved). I knew I wanted to introduce Allison and Tom in a subtle way before the fight between Boris and Henry. I knew I wanted to do this type of shot in my Chapter 5 animation down the road, but I decided to preview it in this one as well.Īnd here we reach the final shots. This shot was super fun to figure out, and it was also a time-saver due to its simplistic nature.
I tried to show the past lives of the workers and how the sentient ink has morphed them into the monsters you see in the video. I’m incredibly proud of the final result, and it transitions into another unique sequence. This shot was actually started from scratch while animating because it just didn’t fit the feel I was going for. And this brings me to the most complicated shot in the video: the fight between Ink Bendy and the Projectionist. The most difficult segment was the scenes with Boris’ monster form since I had to try to emphasize how unstable and heavy his body was compared to before.Īfter Alice/Boris’ portion, the focus shifts to the Projectionist. All of these characters, with the slight exception of Brute Boris, presented minimal challenges when animating.
We’re also introduced to another group of imprisoned souls: The Lost Ones. She finally got her key to become beautiful and mutates Boris. While Betrum’s segment was just concentrated on being left behind and betrayed by Joey Drew, Alice’s (or Susie’s) scenes continued her path from the Chapter 3 animation. Bertrum made up the beginning, and Alice was slated to control the middle. But unlike previous animations, this one focuses on multiple characters rather than just one. Thankfully, I had the bulk of his scenes already figured out in my head, and bringing them to life wasn’t that much of a challenge after I got some experience with his model. It doesn’t take a genius to understand that his model is unique and animating him would be a more complex process than I’m used to. The largest hurdle right off the bat was Bertrum. I also planned for the video to be released in Fall 2021, and both of those happened! I was able to pace myself pretty well over the last 5 months, and it fills me with determination for finishing Chapter 5 on time.
